Moshi Moshi 2014 @ Amsterdam

Moshi Moshi is a convention full of Japanese art and culture, which was held last sunday, July 20th, at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam. This convention was held in one big room. They had organized the room well, so it was easy to find what you were looking for.

It wasn't as big as I suspected, but they had enough space to fit everything in place. They had a small space for dealers, a maid café, a space where you could buy food and sit down, a game space in the middle of the convention and they even had a podium for performances!

I really enjoyed it, but the only thing that bothered me a bit was the bad lightning. It wasn't dark, but it would have been nice if there was a bit more light though. To me it made it a bit gloomy, while it was such a fun convention with such a great atmosphere! It actually was a bit too hot inside as well. It was hot outside, but hotter inside. :P I didn't mind that though, I love the heat ^^.

I also made a short video about this convention, to give others an idea of this convention, and to have it as a memory myself  ^o^. Because it was a bit dark, and since I forgot to bring my second lens with me, the video is a bit dark as well. And something went wrong with the audio all of a sudden, so I couldn't fix it >.< . But I hope you don't mind and still like the video :)

My next convention will be Abunaicon, which will take place at August 29th till 31st in Veldhoven. I'll be going for two days, so for the people that are also going, I might see you there!

Moshi Moshi 2014 | My Purchases

Of course I can't get home from a convention without any purchases! This convention was a small one for me, but they sure had enough things for me to find that I like! I just bought a couple of things, to save money so I can buy many things on Abunaicon! This year, I'm going friday AND saturday to Abunaicon. I'm really excited for that, since it's the first time I'll join a convention for multiple days.

But anyways, let's talk about my purchases. Normally I would go to the MostCutest.nl stand to buy some snacks, but I didn't do it for the last couple of conventions. I felt so bad about it, and I really missed the snacks they sell! So this time, I couldn't pass them by without buying anything. I bought two things, both with the same panda on it. I love panda's! I mean, who could resist them? They're just so cute! I bought the green tea cookies and a DIY choco cookie kit. I've never had a green tea flavored cookie before and I must say that it tastes quite good. I still have to try out the choco cookie kit after I've done with my Hatsune Miku project. It looks so cute and funny that I can't wait to try out!

The other things I bought, were four posters. There was a stand (I don't know the name) which sells a lot of anime posters. I also saw them at Animecon, where I bought my Mikasa poster. They had a special offer if you bought four posters, so I thought why not? I want to have my wall full of anime/manga drawing posters, so it's not a white, boring wall to look at when I walk into my room. Unconsciously I bought only posters with girls on it. All of my posters are with girls/women, I don't know why (>.<)
Shiro(no game no life), Erza (Fairy Tale),
Asuna(Sword Art Online), Hatsune Miku

Tamago Nigiri Cosplay Pillowcase

Yesterday I went to Moshi Moshi, a Japanconvention held at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam. I wanted to make a simple cosplay, so I decided to make a pillowcase for my sushi outfit. This is the most simple thing I've ever made, and it only took a few hours.

I started to make my omelet, by sewing the yellow fabric in the shape of a pillow. Therefore I used a regular pillowcase, took the measurements and made one my own. Then, I made a zipper in it, just to be a 100% sure that the pillow couldn't get out.
The fabric.
Sewing the fabric.
The zipper!
Then, I attached my seaweed (aka black fabric and a streched waistband). With the fabric I went over the pillowcase, and I secured the streched waistband on both sides. I attached velcro on my waistband, so I could attach it around my waist.
The waistband.
Velcro added to the waistband
Giving my omelet some seaweed :P
my pillowcase! ^.^
At the end, when the pillow was already in the pillowcase, I sewed the edges down, for the more 'round tamago' look instead of a pillowcase.

That's about it!
Hope you enjoyed and stay tuned,

Today's Look | Tamago Nigiri

Today was the Japanconvention "Moshi Moshi" at the Westergasfabriek in Amsterdam. The first thing that came to my mind thinking of Japan, was sushi. So in my crazy mind I decided to cosplay as sushi. My favourite one to be exactly.

Since I don't have a lot of time left in my holiday (while holiday's should be relaxing and stuff) I thought this was a good idea because it is simple to make. I only had to make a pillow case for my Tamago and find a white dress that will go for rice. <(^-^)>

So here it is, my Tamago Nigiri Cosplay! I can't stop laughing because I find it very funny-looking. And a lot of people stared at me, because you don't expect a person cosplaying for sushi soon. :P

And I know, my hair is in a very uncommon, odd colour, but I can't dye it any time soon because it's way too damaged. I actually need a haircut, but I don't wanna say goodbye to my lovely long hair. I just can't. (T.T)

I'll keep you guys up to date for my experience about Moshi Moshi, how I made my sushi pillow case and what's happening with my Hatsune Miku projects, so stay tuned!

New In | Blue Circle Lenses by EOS

Today I received my very first circle lenses ever and I was really excited to try them out! I bought them from PinkyParadise. The name of the colour is Candy Blue by the brand EOS. I bought these lenses for my Hatsune Miku cosplay.

Hatsune Miku has blue eyes and I don't, so for the cosplay I really wanted to look the best as I can, so I went searching for blue contacts. I've heard positive things of PinkyParadise before, so I just checked that out first, and it was the only site I looked at. They have so many choices! They also have pictures from people who actually bought it and wear it. That gives me a real good idea how the contacts will look. I thought that these Candy Blue looked the most 'Anime-like', so I bought these one.

The first thing I thought when I looked at my self in the mirror with these contacts in, was that I looked like a doll! Cute, but also a bit creepy. It makes me look emotionless I think haha. They look a bit different than expected, a bit darker and less blue, but it still looks good! What I do notice is that my eyes feel dry very quick. I wear contact myself almost daily, so it feels very different than what I'm used too. These circle lenses have a higher phema content, which makes less oxygen get to your eye hence. That's why your eyes will feel dry and tired after a short period of time. I'm a bit tired myself so my eyes will feel very tired after just one hour or so. :P

Anyway, I'm very happy with the choice I made. PinkyParadise also gave me a free lens case, and it's so cute! It's an adorable case to put your lenses in. ^^

Stay tuned!

Hatsune Miku Love is War Cosplay | Part I

Besides the Disappearance cosplay, I also make the Love is War cosplay! I'm not finished with the Disappearance cosplay yet, but in the meantime I make some progress at the second cosplay. Let's see what I already have!

The first thing that I bought was a blouse. I thought that it would be very easy to find a black blouse with short sleeves, but I couldn't be more wrong. Everywhere I looked, at every corner of the store I checked, there were some pretty clothes, but there was no short-sleeved blouse to be found. So I just bought a black blouse with long sleeves, so I can make them short later.
I also bought some turquoise-ish fabric to make the skirt etc. This was the closest colour I could find, the rest was all too blue or too green. The colour of the zipper that I bought is way too light, but also this was the closest I could get in this short period of time. So I'll need to find a way that it doesn't show that much. And I'm so scared for the gloves! I don't know how to make them yet...this is such a challenge for me! :)
And of course, this costume wouldn't be complete without her megaphone! So I bought one. I couldn't find one in black, so I'll paint this one black ^^ I sure got a lot of stuff to do.
I also made my own Cosplay page on Facebook, be sure to like it to stay updated!

The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku Cosplay | Part II

The last couple of days I was doing some research on how to make the leg parts, and I think I know what to do. But in the meantime I also made the gloves almost complete, worked on the cap and found some boots!

I didn't think that the gloves would cost so much time! While I was cutting the fingers off, I noticed that the thread was getting out of the glove and I had to sew the parts together. After that I could start with the glove itself, but then I was approximately 2 hours further in time. So the gloves were a lot of work, but I'm happy with the result. I've never ever sewed gloves so this was a whole new experience for me! Besides the gloves, I needed fishnet stockings. I use the fishnet stockings for both arms and legs. To do so, I cut off half of the fishnet stockings so I can use the upper part for the legs. The bottom parts are used for the gloves.

I also started with the police cap, by removing all the pieces that were stitched on. Now I'm looking for the details to put on, but I guess that's done within no time. ;)
And last but not least, I found some boots that will work for this outfit. I have a very low budget, so I can't get the perfect costume. But at least it looks like it, so that is good enough for me. :)

The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku Cosplay | Part I

Since I have more free time left, I'm doing a little project at the moment. I'm not going to tell what this project is all about since it still takes a couple of weeks, but I already can show you the things I'm doing at the moment. Right now I'm making some cosplays, all of Hatsune Miku. The first one I'm doing is called the outfit of the song 'The Disappearance of Hatsune Miku'.

For this outfit I gathers some stuff already, I got the top and shorts, the gloves, a police cap and the wig.

I still need to buy some things, but I'll be working on these things first. The wig had a really light colour, so I consider it to be dyed in a darker colour. I'm not sure, since I've never dyed a wig before, but we'll see. :)
I also need to cut the gloves and personalize them, the same counts for the police cap. But I'll show you that in the next blog! The one thing I'm really struggling with, are the black/red pieces of fabric around her upper legs.Still, I'm very excited to do this!

Stay tuned!

A drawing for my new lay-out!

Hey guys!
Long time no see! Last couple of weeks I've been very busy with college, since it were the final weeks. Only one week to go and I'm done! No more exams or whatsoever, but free time I can use for my blog!
I decided to have an other name than Li Hao, since when you search Li Hao, they want to search for yahoo instead. Well, that's not what I was hoping for you to find, since I have nothing in common with yahoo..

To enjoy my first free days I decided to draw something for my new lay-out! I'm very busy with my lay-out, since I want it to be done as soon as possible. When everything's done, the name of link to this website will change as well.
But for now, the drawing. It's not finished yet, I need to photoshop it with the computer, but the basice lines are done! Firstly I drew it with a pencil, and after that I made a copy and drew it over with a fine liner. So this is the result for now. Don't look at the hands. I'm not good at drawing hands haha. But I'll fix it. I added the branches, so I can make a cherry blossom! I really like cherry blossoms, so I think it's a great way to make it even more personal.
From this moment on, I hope to make way more blogs than the last couple of months. So stay tuned!
